Antiquated Way of calling in a bus ride absence: Many parents do not call in a students absence from the bus because of archaic methods. It used to be that you would need to: – Pick up the phone and call a central number – Wait for the prompts, and then hope you select the right prompt (for those who English is not their primary language, this can be confusing) – Leave a voicemail (possibly even embarrassing if they have a heavy accent or don’t speak the language well) – The school must wait for someone to come in and pick up all the voicemails. – Then they will need to transpose that information on a piece of paper (hopefully correctly and legibly). – That person will then need to walk that paper over to the dispatcher
